Senegal Map Badge Sweatshirt
The Gambia notch opens on the west coast, narrows as it runs east and stops at a rounded tip inside the yellow. That yellow is one of three upright bands, green then yellow then red, held apart by two black rules and closed by a heavy keyline. A green star, ringed in black, nearly fills that middle band. Five embroidered centimetres, at the heart of the sweatshirt.

Senegal
Senegal is the westernmost country of continental Africa. Pointe des Almadies, on the Cap-Vert peninsula at Dakar, is the continent's westernmost point. The country takes its name from the Senegal River, which runs along its northern border, and it wraps around the Gambia, a narrow strip of land following the Gambia River. That notch is part of the country's own outline. The flag dates from 1960: three vertical bands, green, yellow and red, with a green five-pointed star in the middle. Chapter 1 covers ten places.
The design
The outline of the country, filled with the three bands of its own flag, embroidered 5 cm wide at the heart. One thick black line follows the coast and the borders, and it is that line which keeps the shape readable at this size. Each country of the journey gets its map drawn this way, so the badges line up as a series.
The sweatshirt
A classic sweatshirt line: ribbed crew neck, long cuffs, flat hem. 288 g/m², heavier than the tee. The outer face is 100% cotton, over a 65% cotton and 35% polyester back knitted as a tight three-end fleece, so the inside stays soft. Side-seamed, with a self-fabric patch on the back. Collar, cuffs and hem are stitched with a double needle. Sizes S to 3XL, one price. In White, Black, Bone, Navy Blazer and Forest Green. It runs small: take one size up.
Made to order
Every Niokolo piece is made once the order comes in, one at a time. Nothing is held in stock, and nothing gets made that no one asked for. One price across every size, from the smallest to the largest.
Niokolo is a clothing and wall-art label built on African heritages: one chapter per country, ten places per chapter, and a hippo born in the Gambia River doing the travelling. Chapter 1 is Senegal. Wear your roots.
