It became a national park in 1954 and a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981: 913,000 hectares of wooded savannah and gallery forest in south-east Senegal. The Gambia River crosses it, on its way from Guinea to the Atlantic, and hippos live in the river. The Derby eland is the largest antelope in the world, and its western form survives in the wild nowhere but here. UNESCO took the park off its list of World Heritage in Danger in July 2024, after seventeen years.

The design

One travel poster per place: a scene drawn in flat colour under heavy black lines, no gradients, and the name of the place across the top in large hand-drawn capitals. No two places in a chapter share the same background colour. The print file is 7200 × 10800 pixels, which is 300 dpi at the largest size.

The paper

The same museum-grade matte paper as our framed edition: 189 g/m², 0.26 mm thick, 94% opaque, sourced from Japan. Matte, so it reads cleanly under a lamp with no glare. It comes unframed, ready for the frame you already own, and it is the least expensive way to put a place on your wall. Shipping is charged on wall art.

Made to order

Every Niokolo piece is made once the order comes in, one at a time. Chapter 1 is Senegal.
