Niokolo-Koba

Niokolo-Koba gave the brand its name. It became a national park in 1954 and a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981: 913,000 hectares of wooded savannah and gallery forest in south-east Senegal. The Gambia River crosses it, on its way from Guinea to the Atlantic, and hippos live in the river. The Derby eland is the largest antelope in the world, and its western form survives in the wild nowhere but here. UNESCO took the park off its list of World Heritage in Danger in July 2024, after seventeen years.

The design

A patch printed 6.5 cm wide at the heart: a square with rounded corners, a thick black frame, one scene of the place inside it. Flat colours, heavy black lines, no gradients. A black band runs along the bottom, carrying the name of the place in cream capitals that fill it edge to edge. No two places in a chapter share the same background colour.

The hoodie

A pullover hoodie with a three-panel hood, flat drawstrings that match the body, and a pouch pocket across the front. The outer face is 100% cotton; the fabric behind it is 65% ring-spun cotton and 35% polyester. A self-fabric patch sits on the back. The blank comes from Pakistan. Sizes S to 3XL, one price. Four colours: Black, Bone, Navy Blazer, Forest Green. It runs small, so take one size up.

Made to order

Every Niokolo piece is made once the order comes in, one at a time. Nothing is held in stock, and nothing gets made that no one asked for. One price across every size, from the smallest to the largest.

Niokolo is a clothing and wall-art label built on African heritages: one chapter per country, ten places per chapter, and a hippo born in the Gambia River doing the travelling. Chapter 1 is Senegal. Wear your roots.
